The Hippocratic Oath is not alive and well in America. The Hippocratic Oath is more than 2,400 years ago. It simply means that the medical community agrees to do no harm to their patients. Doctors out of stupidity and ignorance have always been hurting and killing their patients. The barbaric medical procedure called bloodletting, probably led to the death of George Washington in 1799. This is particularly barbaric considering physician William Harvey in 1,628 recognized bloodletting as a medical myth that harmed the patient. The medical community seems to have a terribly hard time letting go of its medical myths.
